She Kicks Academy
She Kicks Academy started as a girls-only football academy, created to help close the gap in opportunities between girls and boys in the sport. Since its launch, the organisation has evolved into a Community Interest Company (CIC) and now delivers a variety of football-focused training sessions for young people across Warwickshire.
Recently, She Kicks Academy was awarded over £13,000 from Sport England’s Movement Fund to deliver 48 weeks of twice-weekly football and multi-sport sessions in Nuneaton.
Having previously completed several funding applications, director Charlie commented that the Movement Fund process felt straightforward and familiar. Support from Think Active Partnership Manager Matt McCarthy played a key role in strengthening the application, with valuable feedback provided on initial responses.

The successful application centred on tackling some of the barriers to participation that She Kicks had identified in their local community. The funding will ensure that all sessions are free, with venue hire and coaching costs fully covered. Additionally, transport to sessions, as well as kit and football boots, can be provided if needed.
Sessions will be delivered by newly-qualified coaches, who will tailor activities based on the interests and needs of the participants. It’s also fantastic to note that these coaches have been supported by Think Active through the Skills360 coaching programme.
