Our Governance
Governance Statement – Think Active
As a valued recipient of Sport England funding, Think Active is committed to the highest standards of organisational governance and accountability. We comply fully with Tier 3 of A Code for Sports Governance, recognising this as a cornerstone of our integrity, transparency and effectiveness as a charity and public‑funded organisation. The Code sets out mandatory expectations for transparency, diversity and inclusion, accountability and financial integrity for organisations receiving significant multi‑year investment.
Our Board of Trustees provides strong strategic leadership and oversight, ensuring that Think Active’s governance framework meets both the regulatory requirements of the Charity Commission and the expectations of our partners, stakeholders and communities. We continually review our structures, systems and policies to ensure governance standards evolve with best practice.
We believe that robust governance strengthens our impact and enables us to be a trusted steward of public and charitable funds. Our approach to governance is proactive and values‑driven, and we seek to embed the principles of the Code across all aspects of planning, decision‑making and organisational culture.
In pursuit of this commitment we:
- Demonstrate transparency and accountability through clear reporting, publicly available governance documents and effective risk management.
- Prioritise equality, diversity and inclusion in our leadership, workforce and decision‑making, with ambitious action plans to improve representation and inclusion across the organisation.
- Maintain strong financial oversight and integrity through robust controls, responsible planning and open reporting of our financial position.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards, including safeguarding, ethics and environmental and social considerations in our decisions.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, regularly reviewing performance and strengthening governance practices in line with sector developments.
We make key governance documents — including our articles of association, board responsibilities, audited accounts, strategic plans, policies and annual reports — publicly accessible as part of our commitment to openness and stakeholder trust.
Our governance and compliance reflect not just adherence to an external Code, but our organisational values and our commitment to leading with integrity so that together we can grow participation, tackle inequalities and make a lasting difference through physical activity.
