Introducing Active Partnerships to Parliament

Last week, CEO of Think Active, Vicky Joel attended the National Sector Partners Group event at Westminster.

The event was an opportunity for the sport and physical activity sector to meet with MPs, including Sports Minister Stephanie Peacock MP, to highlight the importance of the sport and physical activity sector and to discuss making the UK the most active nation.

Vicky’s thoughts on the event:

As a representative of the Active Partnership Network at the National Sector Partnerships Group event at the House of Commons, I was pleased to help share our collective voice to such an influential platform and new MPs. This event was a valuable opportunity to showcase the pivotal role that Active Partnerships play in championing a place-based approach to reducing inequalities, providing local expertise, and leveraging movement and physical activity as powerful drivers of social change.

By emphasising our capacity to make a sustainable, positive impact and highlighting the diversity of our expertise, we aim to foster meaningful collaborations, positively influence local communities, and advocate for national policies that promote inclusive and sustainable opportunities for physical activity for all.

I am excited to support the network to engage in these discussions, which have the potential to shape the future of our sector and drive meaningful change.

The National Sector Partners Group includes Active Partnerships, the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), the Local Government Association, the Sport and Recreation Alliance, the Sport for Development Coalition, the Youth Sport Trust, and ukactive.
