The Purpose of the Conference
Across Coventry, Solihull and Warwckshire, there is a significant population of older people, which is ageing further.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis have and still are exacerbating health inequalities and increasing pressure on health and social care systems.
We know that activity, including physical, cognitive and emotional can help reduce this problem and increase people’s health span.
We need to unite and commit to improving systems, recommending and prescribing activity and changing our attitudes to ageing.
This event aims to bring together key partners, stakeholders, audience representatives and high-profile speakers to inspire, inform, explore and discuss opportunities and challenges for supporting Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire’s ageing population to move more.
This free conference will provide an opportunity to:
Hear keynote speaker Sir Muir Gray, a leading expert on healthy active ageing, and internationally renowned authority on healthcare systems, talk about his inspiring call to action with The Live Longer Better Revolution.
Listen to Dr Martin Sandler, Deputy Medical Director at George Eliot Hospital, Associate Medical Director at South Warwickshire University Foundation Trust and Clinical Lead for Virtual Wards across the Midlands and lead on Frailty for Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board discuss “Why Hospitals are Bad for You and How to Avoid Them.”
